Program Highlights
National Mental Health Association of Greater Los Angeles
Self-Sufficiency Project for Homeless and Young Adults with Mental Illness - Antelope Valley
Since receiving HHPF-CCP funds, the National Mental Health Association of Greater Los Angeles has been able to enhance existing services to homeless individuals in the Antelope Valley. The Opportunity Center works as a one-stop, referral and service center for hundreds of homeless persons living with mental illness, including those with substance abuse problems. The Opportunity Center provides permanent housing referrals, employment training, and drop-in services such as showers, laundry, clean clothes, and food. Services continue to promote awareness, acceptance, and understanding of people living with mental illnesses and the importance of mental wellness in the lives of everyone in the community.
